In a prior FanPost I somewhat touched on the following topic being the catalyst that landed a friend and I in the Stillwater Drunk tank a couple years back (I'd post a link but I don't know how and I don't care to learn, so eff off.) Well, considering they have been voted as one of the most hated fanbases in America I do not know why I continue to be shocked by their new lows in classlessness.
Let's go ahead and get right into it. The diagram made by Samuel Bryant today (Again, no link. Deal with it.) could easily be interchanged with "Classless dickheads" on one side, "People who live their lives through the team they support" on the other, and form "OU fans" in the middle.
Look, I understand OU fans are already at a disadvantage when it comes to brain cell count. With that said, when the date is 9/11, there is a huge scoreboard telling you NOT to do something, and you still scream "sooners" instead of "brave" at the end of our National Anthem, you are officially the worst type of human being on the planet. It makes me wonder what the actual reading criteria is to enroll at OU. In big block letters on a huge ass jumbotron it clearly says "Do NOT yell Sooners at the end of the National Anthem." And if that isn't enough, do OU fans know what calendars are? Do they read the date on their ticket stubs? Of all the days you would think they would not deface the National Anthem, it would be on 9/11. Did either of these facts stop thousands of fans from putting themselves before our country and the lives lost on that day nine years ago? Nope.
But it doesn't stop there. And why would it? That's just normal douchebaggery. For such an occassion as this, some OU fans had to up the ante. How is that possible? Simple. During the moment of silence for those lost during that horrible event nine years ago, some idiots thought it would be a great idea to start chanting "Boomer" and "Sooner" back and forth. What. The. Fuck. I wish I could tell you I am joking but unfortunately, it happened. Again, the worst type of human being on the planet.
Let me now say that I know there are good OU fans out there. There were many in the stadium that I'm sure were embarrassed by those who represented their fanbase in such a horrible fashion. With that said, it all started somewhere. If fans weren't allowed to scream "sooners" at the end of the National Anthem for so many years, this never would have happened in the first place. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
If there is anything positive that came from this it is that I am glad I made the right decision in attending OSU instead of OU. I am glad that I am surrounded by those who are just as respectful to our great nation and to those who have fought and died for it. OU fans would do well to remember that class and integrity cannot be purchased with football national championships.
