Next game on Oklahoma State's basketball schedule: Saturday, Jan. 22nd at Baylor

Oklahoma State travels to Wacko this weekend to take on the David Koresh led Baylor Bears. That will never get old to me. I hope you liked it. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Seriously though, this is a big game for an Oklahoma State team coming off a huge win at home against a good Iowa State team. A win on the road against a solid Baylor team would add fuel to the NCAA tourney fire.

Baylor is 12-5 overall and 2-2 in Big 12 play. They have wins against a couple of really bad teams (Texas Tech and Oklahoma) and losses to a couple of good teams (Kansas and Iowa State). Like most Big 12 teams though, they hold their own at home with only one loss on the season.

Star-divide

The Bears are led by senior guard Lacedarius Dunn, who is averaging 22 points per game this season.  Other players of note are 6-11 freshman Perry Jones and 6-7 Junior Quincy Acy.

Interestingly enough, Jones played with both Roger Franklin and Reger Dowellat Duncanville High School. He's averaging 14 points and 7 rebounds a game and will no doubt give our bigs all they can handle.  Many believe he will be the first player taken in the NBA draft if he comes out this spring.

Acy is a guy that is really coming into his own after being a reserve on last year's Elite 8 team. The 6-7 "Cookie Monster" - yes, that is his nickname - is averaging 13 points and 7 rebounds per game.

Baylor hasn't lost 2 road games in a row since 2009 and have won the last 4 against Oklahoma State in Waco. The bears are good defensively, limiting opponents to just 60 ppg while the Cowboys come in averaging 71 points per game. Something's got to give.

I expect another tough battle on the road that favors the Bears at home. The Cowboys will have to play solid defense and limit the number of fouls against them if they want to steal one here. Do that, and the quest for an NCAA tourney bid gets a little easier.

Looks like Baylor is favored by 6

I thought it would be higher. I don’t know why, but this is the first OSU basketball team in years and years that seems to play without any court awareness. That play gets you invited to the NIT.

I would agree with that...

I think the loss of Gulley is hurting more than anyone thought. There is not real point guard at this point..

This will be tough

But Baylor seriously looks like OU last year. Lots of talent…not much coaching. If the Pokes can get them playing like individuals instead of a team, this game could end up being a win.
