Oklahoma State opened the 2012-2013 season with a rusty 73-65 win but a win's a win.
The Cowboys seemed out of sync most of the game and I guess that's to be expected with all of the new faces (we've heard this before) and injuries (we've also heard this before).
The Cowboys just never could pull away from the Aggies. They settled for low quality shots and never really got in sync.
The twenty seven Cowboy fans in attendance appeared to be in shock when UC Davis went on a 9-0 second half run to take the lead. However, this young team (how many years in a row can you be young?) dug in after going down 51-48 and answered with back to back steals and a couple of baskets to regain the lead.
The Cowboys didn't trail the rest of the game after that swing and newcomers Kamari Murphy and Phil Forte closed the deal with defense and big shots to escape with a victory.
Again, a win's a win but I'm not impressed. You have an entire off season to prepare for your home opener against an inferior opponent and this is what you bring? Things won't get any easier for the Cowboys when they travel to Puerto Rico to take on the Zips of Akron in the 2012 Puerto Rico Tip Off.
