Oklahoma State Getting Some Much Needed Help at Safety

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Michigan safety Josh Furman announced late Tuesday that he will be transferring to Oklahoma State!

To say Oklahoma State is inexperienced at safety is an understatement. Both Daytawion Lowe and Shamiel Gary have both used up all their eligibility, leaving only Larry Stephens and Jordan Sterns with any game experience.

Second year Safeties Coach Tim Duffie has a long road ahead to get his guys ready to take on the defending Nation Champion Florida State in the season Opener, and today he got a bit of good news.

Furman will graduate from Michigan in May, and will be eligible to contribute immediately. He reportedly made the decision after attending the Orange Blitz and hearing about how well Tyler Patmon was accepted into the program.

Patmon transferred to the Pokes for his final season of eligibility after graduating from Kansas. In one year as a Cowboy Tyler won more games than his entire career as a Jayhawk, and went to his first ever bowl game. His fantastic season was highlighted by a 78-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown in the big win over Baylor.

Obviously Michigan is a little bit more storied than Kansas, but here's hoping history will repeat itself and Furman makes the most of his time in Stillwater.

As a Wolverine Josh saw the field in 32 games and recorded 29 total tackles. He started in just three games, but it's three more starts than all of the safeties currently on the roster combined.
