Oklahoma State's goal this weekend: upset Florida State and shock the nation. But you already knew that right? Maybe the biggest game of the season is this weekend and you've been counting down the days. But we may be thinking about two different games.
With the return of Courtney Dike, the Oklahoma State futball team looks to knock off No. 2 Florida State tonight at 7pm at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.
"It's just another chance to test ourselves. We also feel like we got (Florida State) coming in here and maybe we'll get a little bit of boost from our crowd and our energy and things like that," coach Colin Carmichael said after practice Wednesday.
The Seminoles will not be taking Oklahoma State lightly, despite OSU's 0-2 record. The Cowgirls nearly pulled off the upset last season in Tallahassee, but the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
"I'm sure they'll remember we played them hard and their coaches will be sending a message, 'Hey these guys tied you last year. They're a decent team and you'll have to take them seriously.' I would imagine that would come from them," Carmichael said.
Another reason Florida State can't look pass the Cowgirls is because they now have their missing piece back in the lineup. Bedlam rival Oklahoma and No. 23 Arkansas both slid by OSU last weekend, but the team was without their leading scorer. Dike was busy representing Nigeria in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Canada, but she is now ready to get the team back on track and Florida State is her first mission.
"We tied Florida State last year, almost beat them, so we know it's possible, but it's gonna be a gritty game. Hopefully it'll come out in our favor ," Dike said.
Admission into the game is free.
