Pasted Optimism: 6/18/2010

Pasted Optimism is a place where we periodically post a collection of links, quick thoughts, and hopefully one day, a haiku. Click here to view archive.

Houston to the Big XII? While this is an interesting scenario (big TV market and a good school with a history of some athletic success), I'm not sure we want five of eleven teams to be from Texas. Also, enough conference realignment rumors already! I just want to settle into a summer of writing about my favorite things to do at the beach (spoiler: swim), and about how much I love drinking a nice big iced tea in my hammock on a hot Oklahoma day, but if you guys keep with the expansion talk I can't do this. And if I can't write about those things then you know who suffers the most??? Wastedoptimism readers, that's who. -Samuel

Morgan Hoffman sort of shat the bed yesterday at Pebble Beach. I remember when this reporter(!) was a sophomore at Okie State. I didn't have time to be duffin' around on some lame golf course in California. I was busy trying to maintain a respectable 2.15 GPA and THIS KID is jaggin around, skippin class and whatnot; going even for 17 holes at Pebble Beach Municipal. Take this alumni's advice, Morgan: Golf is just for recreation. Your education is for a lifetime. Get back to class. Wait... It's summer? Nevermind. Please win the U.S. Open. XOXO - Ricky

Iowa St wins the Insight Bowl Current news? No. Fucking Amazing? Yes. If you would have asked me yesterday if Iowa State won a single game last year I would have said no. However, they not only went to a bowl...They WON and beat a Big 10 team! So much for "The Big 10 is much better from top to bottom than the Big 12" - Joe

T Boone has something to say to Missouri If there was ever any doubt that Missouri had any stroke in the matter of the Big 12 wahtsoever, this should settle that.

A few other notes from the video:

  • Nebraska "doesn't bring anything to the market."
  • Nebraska has wanted out since the Big Six in the 1940s.
  • RE: Texas A&M leaving the conference. "Hell no, they weren't serious."

Gotta love the guy..
