Pasted Optimism: 7/16/2010

Pasted Optimism is a place where we periodically post a collection of links, quick thoughts, and hopefully one day, a haiku. Click here to view archive.

The Davey O'Brien Watch List was announced a couple days ago (it's a slow news cycle around here). The O'Brien award is given annually to the nation's best quarterback who exudes honor and virtue and all other kinds of ambiguous qualities that there is no way the voters know if the recipient actually has or not. Big XII-ers on the list are Mizzou's Blaine Gabbert, Baylor's Robert Griffin, A&M's Jerrod Johnson, OU's Landry Jones, and Texas Tech backup Taylor Potts. Being on the watch list is not a requirement to win the award so Grandpa Weeden still has a shot.

Another older one...here is ESPN's David Ubben's Oklahoma State mailbag from last week. He doesn't really take any hard stances anywhere... most of the answers are of the "well this could happen, but so could this or this" variety. Still an interesting read... and he seems to be a big Hubert Anyiam supporter. Speaking of... has anyone ever been dying for a nickname as much as Hubert Anyiam? Does he already have one that I don't know about? If not, we need to get to work on this immediately. My first nomination is: "Hubes". More to come.

Here is something that is pretty decent (what a lead in!). Spencer Hall of EDSBS.com discussing the Gamestop in Tuscaloosa that changed out the covers of all the NCAA 11 games from the image of Tebow looking like a bad-ass, to images of him crying.

Well, it is July.. college sports news is pretty hard to come by so you just get the 3 links today. We need more Tuberville and Pelini to liven this bitch up.
