Oklahoma State @ Missouri: F*@# MISERY

I can't turn the radio on or even browse any of my local newspapers without hearing or reading about the potential for an OSU loss this weekend at Missouri. Even the big boys at ESPN have put the Cowboys on upset watch. But the reality is you've got to take all of this shit with a grain of salt.

The local radio guys are about as clueless as it gets.  I have heard the following on The Animal this week alone.

  • Missouri is the best offensive team Oklahoma State has faced all year (Morning Show)
  • Oklahoma State's Defense is ranked 100 out of 130 teams and is horrible (Morning Show)

Here's how I see it. Missouri has won 3 and lost 3. 2 of those losses have come on the road against top 20 teams and none of them have been by more than 10 points. So that makes Missouri a great team right? No. They are not. If they were a good team, they'd be 5-1. Not 3-3.

I think there are 3 things to be concerned about tomorrow and they are the following:

James Franklin

The guy is hot and cold and I think alot of that can be attributed to his youth and inexperience. He's got 6 games under his belt and is coming off his biggest game ever against Iowa State. So yes, he had a big game (5 TD's) but it was against Iowa State. The thing that worries me about him is that he's mobile. I'm not sure how long you've been tuned in but Oklahoma State is horrendous against mobile QB's.  We'll have to contain and limit his explosiveness. Absolutely cannot let him run wild.

Henry Josey

I have said more bad shit about the Missouri running game than anyone and I'm hoping that in this case, karma is not a bitch. Josey leads the Big 12 in rushing and  is absolutely tearing it up with a ridiculous 9.7 YPC average and 119 yards per game. OSU made a true freshman look like the next coming of All Day last weekend in Austin. Josey is better than the freshman.

Oklahoma State's Defense

You probably see where I'm going with this. If Josey continues doing what he's been doing, it's going to blow the thing wide open for Franklin. It will be interesting to see what Young does here. Do we sell out to Josey and make Franklin beat us? Will the Cowboys be able to limit Missouri's dual threat QB and explosive RB? It's a fair question.

Now here's the BUT...

Oklahoma State is 8-2 against Missouri when ranked in the AP Top 25

OSU has won 3 of the last 4 in the series

Oklahoma State is going 12-0, we're not gonna lose boys
