Preseason rankings are usually a poor barometer for what a potential team will do in the forthcoming year. Polls are a surefire way to increase your readership, but are not a good way to judge the wide spectrum of things that can happen in the season. Yachoff thinks polls are great, because Yachoff just likes to vote! In my country, the politburo saved us the trouble and did the polls for us, the results usually were not favorable.
These(ESPN and CFN) two polls both have the Cowboys in sixth place, safely within the BCS picture. Both cite the B.DUB/J.MON duo as the deciding factor in the favorable mentions, with OSU's ever present stable of runningbacks waiting in the wings also weighing in. Kendall Hunter will be hard to replace, but with Hershel Sims coming in and Joseph Randle and Jeremy Smith putting up good numbers already, nobody is really worried.
The rest of the Big12 is also represented well, someone even allowed Texas to be ranked, albeit in the twenty range. OU is at the top of the ESPN poll, and a more sane third place in the CFN. Texas A&M is behind us at #8-9 (look for Tannihill to do nothing but improve, and there will be a showdown waiting in College Station for the Cowboys in late September). Missouri will look to add to the mix and is in the top ten of the CFN poll and a way more reasonable #18 in the ESPN.
Vote for where you think Oklahoma State Football should land on the polls. Vote with your junk, not your heart or brain.
After the jump is Yachoff's own Top Ten based on no games played, shaky research, superstition, and wild faith...
