Big Twe9ve Power Rankings | Week Three

I'm not sure that we will do this every week, but periodically we will take a look at the conference as a whole and which teams are performing the best right now.  This is a power poll so the thinking here is that if a team from another conference were to have to play a Big 12 team today on a neutral field, whichever team they would least want to play would be #1, the team they would second-most hate to play would be #2, and so on.  Overall season performance and pre-season hype and all of that won't come into play here, just a simple opinionated list ranking from the toughest team to the Kansas teams.

Each of the CRFF writers will submit their rankings and we will take the average to get the official power rankings (so very official).

1. Newpetelogo_medium Oklahoma State

I flipped #1 and #2 back and forth a couple of times. If you could guarantee that we would get the Pokes from the 1st quarter vs Zona every night, even if just for part of the game, they would be #1, and by a decent margin.
Cincy -
Played perhaps the best half of football I've ever seen against Zona. 2-0
Royal - On top of OU due to playing two games and therefore having more to judge
King - Tulsa isn't shit, and they didn't beat them that badly (not a usual Stoops score run up), so I put more weight in the Zona W.

Sam-
I thought they looked dominant in week 1, even if they are a bunch of ugly cheating a-holes.
Cincy - They looked good - against Tulsa.
Royal - Won convincingly against TU. A win over FSU this week would definitely catapult them to number 1.
King - Beat FSU this weekend, welcome back to number one (cocksuckers though they be).

3. Texas A&M A_m_dog_medium

Looked dominant, but not super-dominant vs SMU. Controlled the game though and put it away early. I think they are a very small step behind #1 and #2 right now.
Cincy - Congrats, you beat SMU at home and let a white RB have his way with you.
Royal - SMU shot themselves in the foot in the first half when they had a chance to make it a game. Credit the Aggies for keeping their foot on the Ponies' throats.
King - Sure, they made SMU look bad, but fuck em. Still though, never let SMU close, played pretty good d. Really, (and this applies to OU as well) I put them behind OSU and OU because they are giant pussies and took week 2 off.

4. Baylor Dr-pepper-can-safe_medium

Last Week Result: Bye
Last Week Rank: NR

#3 - Cincy
#4 - Sam, Royal, King

HUGE drop-off to #4, but if you can beat TCU, you can beat anyone from #5-#10 in this ranking.
Cincy - Huge win for Bears against what appears to be a more than capable TCU team.
Royal - Extremely questionable defense but definitely a lot of power on offense. Reminds me of OSU in 2007. The win over TCU gives them the nod.
King - Well, somebody had to go here, but they have the best resume of the rest.

5. Texas Matthew_medium

Last Week Result: W vs BYU, 17-16

May have found something in McCoy/Ash. Maybe.
Cincy - Longhorns look shitty but are 2-0
Royal - I almost put Tech here but Texas has played two games to the Red Raider's one and won both (albeit unconvincingly). Things can change depending on how they play at UCLA this week.
King - If only BYU could have pulled it out, I don't even know if that counts as a good win, their d played okay, offense blew salty goat balls.

6. Iowa State Larry_medium

Last Week Result: W vs Iowa, 44-41
Last Week Rank:
NR
Votes:
#5 - Cincy, Royal
#7 - King
#8 - Sam

Comments:
Sam - The feel good story of the week, still #8
Cincy -
Huge win for State. Jantz is the real deal. Will be on the radar with a win against UCONN this week.
Royal - Numbers 5 through 7 are interchangeable. I have Iowa State on top right now because I like how they gutted out the win over Iowa and their QB is scrappy enough to make plays when they count.
King - Hey, they beat Iowa, so behind Baylor and then Oklahoma State they have the best win of the first two weeks (in the big 12).

7. Texas Tech Texas_tech_girl___043_medium

Last Week Result: Bye
Last Week Rank: NR
Votes:
#6 - King
#7 - Sam, Royal
#8 - Cincy
Abstained, moral reasons - Yachoff
Comments:
Sam - Deceiving score in their first win, Texas St ran over them for a half. Props for a huge 2nd half for the Raiders though.
Cincy - You have 1 win against an FCS team. Congrats
Royal - Only one game to judge so again, I can't really put much stock into their performance yet. They need to show me that the 1st half of the game was a fluke and the second half wasn't.
King - Hey, still undefeated, ole Mizzou can't say that.

8. Kansas Alg_jayahawks_medium

Last Week Result: W vs N Illinois, 45-42
Last Week Rank: NR
Votes:
#7 - Cincy
#8 - King
#9 - Sam, Royal
Abstained, moral reasons - Yachoff
Comments:
Sam - Northern Illinois is better than people give them credit for. Watch out for Jay-boners, KU is 2-0! Someone get to Lawrence and teach those fans how footbaw works.
Cincy - KU is taking care of business and are 2-0. Might be better than people think with young talent.
Royal - A last second touchdown to beat Northern Illinois isn't going to change how I feel about the Jayhawks.
King - Have won double the games I thought they would have, welcome to 8th jayhawks

9. Missouri University-of-missouri-replay-peels-mizzous-truman-tiger-peel-mu-peel-x-00001md_medium

Last Week Result: L @ Arizona State, 30-37
Last Week Rank: NR
Votes:
#6 - Sam
#8 - Royal
#9 - Cincy
#10 - King
Abstained, moral reasons - Yachoff
Comments:
Sam - They have looked so bad, but I still wouldn't pick anyone below here to beat them.
Cincy - Tigers look underwhelming, to say the least. QB is a mix of Tony Lindsey and Byron Leftwich. Not good
Royal - Playing on the road early in the season is difficult. But even after the first week win I wasn't convinced this Mizzou team was very good. The second week loss confirmed it...for now at least.
King - Fucking losers. Franklin doesn't impress me at all, they have a standard missouri running game, their defense can't cover a good ground game or big receivers, they'll lose to us, A&M, OU, and possibly tech and baylor. Long season for those assholes (I hate missouri)

10. Kansas State Wtcwc

Last Week Result:
Bye
Last Week Rank: NR
Votes:
#9 - King
#10 - Sam, Cincy, Royal
Abstained, moral reasons - Yachoff
Comments:
Sam - Perpetrators of the ugliest boxscore in recent memory.
Cincy - Wildcats needed a huge 4th Quarter rally to beat...Eastern Kentucky. So even though they are 1-0, they're really 0-10 in my book
Royal - Simply put, they stink. I don't know if there is a fanbase less pumped about being 1-0 right now.
King - Hey, at least they're still undefeated, and maybe eastern kentucky is better than we all think (but they're not).
