Quick Bedlam Recap: Cowboys Win 72-65

Holy hell, we scored 72 points, I don't believe it. After getting, then blowing, a 17 point lead, the Cowboys manage to take the first Bedlam matchup at home in Stillwater. Somehow we finish with 13 assists to 13 turnovers. It felt like we had about 30 turnovers, and we were very careless with it at times (looking at you, Nash), but hey, I'll take a W this year any way I can get it. . Le'Bryan Nash led all scorers with 21 points, Keiton Page poured in 18 and Brian Williams added 13. In what was a sloppy game by both teams, it was the Cowboys ability to hit a few key shots (can't believe I typed that), and the Sooners inability to hit anything for about 10 minutes in the second half that led to the final. I can't provide you with as much analysis as the others can (I understand the finer points of basketball about as much as I do the finer points of dick piercings), so I'll leave that to the others. Enjoy being 2-1 in conference, continuing this years Bedlam dominance, and of course, beating the hell out of OU.

MAKE IT GREEN BITCHES

though I’m a bit worried about the womens basketball, and the mens away basketball, and probably baseball, but still, a great start. And we got the only one 99.27% of goon fans care about.

Basketball team looked pretty good tonight

although I was distracted while watching. I’d like to see Cobbins and Williams play 40 minutes per night if they can handle it. I’d also like Guerrero lose the GQ look and look more like a gym rat. Screw your hair dude, work on your shitty shot. And ESPN announcers, don’t tell us he has a good shot. Stats don’t lie, so stop it.

Just checked out the box score

Damn…Jurick filled it up for just playing fifteen minutes:

8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 1 turnover, 3 fouls, 2 points

Just checked out the meltdown thread over at CCM. JTE, you never disappoint. You sir, are internet gold. And I mean that in a good way. Rock on dude.

I enjoyed the conversation about "was this the worst loss in program history"

They were supposed to suck hard this year, now they do. First time I’ve ever seen osu basketball compared to charminade.

Voted for Bedlam

Hmm, what to watch, Bedlam or boring-ass game? Voted for Bedlam.

I’m not Basketball coach, so maybe I don’t get all the decisions made. Up by 17, and then we’re struggling to hold on? Don’t get me wrong, I understand the concept of slow it down and burn some clock, but then we wait until the clock hits 8 only to turn it over? Once. Sure, I understand. We’re trying something. Twice. Hey, we’re not executing here. Let’s do something else. Three times? WTF? What does it take? We build the lead by turning the offense loose a lit bit and playing good, solid, half-court defense. Now we want to change? Again, I’m no coach, but come on. Can we not just go with our strength instead of changing our entire game plan in the last 4 minutes?

Outside of that, I was pleased and amazed at the same time. I still don’t understand why Nash hesitates everytime he touches the ball instead of moving. I’m not saying that he has to go to the hole every time, but at least move. He seemed to calm down and ended up with some great assists last night in the second half. It’s OK to drive and then kick it out to the open guy sometimes.

Brian Williams is turning out to be the player that we needed, and maybe Brown has been hurt but I still say he’s a stud. Get inside a little more with some of those monster jams instead of trying to throw down the 3-ball so much. Cobbins is starting to show up regularly and I’ve got to say I love it when Page is able to go inside with the trees and score. Not saying it’s always smart, but it makes me smile. I’m beginning to wish those guys never had to leave the floor. Of course, due to all the other issues, they probably won’t be able to for any length of time.

I was set to write this year off as an “experience” year, where we just get some time on the guys and wait to see what they do next year, but maybe we’ll have something to watch this year.

Not that I’m expecting a conference championship or even a lot of wins , but if we can continue turning the offense loose a little, play solid defense, and stick with a game plan, maybe we’ll notch a few more?

Or maybe it’s just wishful thinking?

We enjoy wishful thinking.

We’re all about exaggerated reactions on this site and lately it’s been a little heavy on the “Shut down the basketball program until Ford is gone!” and not enough “We’re going to win the national championship and could easily beat 10 NBA teams!”

Thanks, but let's not get carried away either.........

National Championship caliber, we ain’t. But I do think we’ve got some players.

I do get a little tired of hearing about getting rid of our coaches. I don’t know, maybe that reminds me too much of the so-called fans from that other school down the road.

And pardon me, but Fuck the NBA. I like college ball.

I’m not ready to give up on Ford yet, especially if when I see the occassional ray of light shining through, but that doesn’t stop me from cussing and yelling at the TV, or even in person when I’m there. I just don’t always understand his coaching decisions.

The old saying is the Definition of Stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome every time. If I go down a road and get kicked in the nuts because of it, I’m probably going to try a different path next time.

I’ve seen Ford change things up in the past to make things better. That’s what good coaches do. He just doesn’t seem to be getting there quite as fast as he should this season.

Hopefully he’s turning a corner?

by ST2 on Jan 10, 2026 1:12 PM CST up reply actions

Since you're the only apparent Ford supporter on here

He has a 26-25 conference record in a little over 3 years. Outside of Page he has “his own guys” or what’s left of them. Didn’t reach the big dance last year, not terribly likely to this year. I’m not saying the guy is a terrible coach or anything, but my question to you is how long do you give him? Assuming he stays for ‘12-’13 season what would your expectations be then? My concern would be that if he stays and the program continues to flounder (.500 in conference play, no NCAA invites) that the longer that goes on the harder it gets to turn it around, a la Capel at OU. My feeling is 4 years is enough time to draw conclusions (isn’t that more than Sean Sutton got?) and .500 in conference isn’t getting it done. Just my two cents.

By the way, looked at Ford’s bio on okstate.com. First sentance is this:
“In just three seasons at Oklahoma State, head coach Travis Ford has already re-energized the Cowboy Basketball program, both on the court and in the eyes of the OSU faithful.” Ummmm, really?

For what it's worth...

Which one of our guys has/will develop a consistent mid range jumper?

We have one 3-point specialist and everybody else looks like they are shooting with the wrong hand.
