West Virginia Mountaineers: Future Foe will face Gonzaga in Pittsburgh

As you've probably already heard, Oklahoma State didn't make the tournament this year. So instead of drinking ourselves silly, we've adopted 4 teams that we are going to follow throughout this tournament. This is the second preview of four.

West Virginia

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Enrollment: 30,000
Head Coach: Bob "Huggy Bear" Huggins
Mascot: The Mountaineer
Notable Alumni: Jerry West, Don Knotts

The Mountaineers are coached by former Cincinnati/Kansas State coach Bob Huggins. I've always pictured Huggins to be the kind of guy that comes down the stairs in the morning (after sleeping with your buddies step mom) in a robe with a cigar in his mouth and a glass of scotch. Not sure why..

The Mountaineers will face the Zags of Gonzaga in a virtual home game. I'm still bitter about our loss to Gonzaga in Seattle so yeah, eff them. You can read all about that match up, and much much more at The Smoking Musket

A few quick hits while were at it...

The Mountaineers are led by senior Kevin Jones who averages 20 points, 11 rebounds and 1 block per game. He shoots better than 50% from the field and is an excellent free throw shooter. After Jones, the WV is led by Darryl Bryant, who kicks in 17 points a game. These guys are savvy veterans that have been here before. Each were on the 2010 team that lost to Duke in the championship game.

It's hard to bet against the Zags when it comes to March Madness, but they're gonna have to travel across the country to play a good Big East team in a venue that is the equivalent of Spokane. Throw Huggins in the mix and I smell an upset.

Go Mountaineers.
