So what are all the prognosticators so afraid of?

So everybody and their brother has a prediction for potential outcomes going into this college football season.

Oklahoma State fans are anxious to see if a freshman QB, along with some other young and unproven talent can take over where Weeden2Blackmon left off.

The entire sports media complex, including the local contingent, eagerly predicts worst case scenario and their realistic expectation for the Cowboys.

But where's the best case scenario?

It seems that I am the only one who has been willing to state such a thing.

Oklahoma State can go 12-0, and it's no stretch of the imagination to get there.

Folks might say that any team has the potential to go undefeated. Well, no, that's not the case.

Kansas? Texas Tech? Iowa State? Texas? Kansas State? Baylor?

Just to be clear, my realistic expectation is 10-2. There are just too many tough games for them to get past. Somewhere, someone will catch them not playing their best at the right time.

However, I'm not saying they CAN'T win those games.

I refer back to an earlier post where I ask the question, "Is there one game on our schedule right now that you would say is out of the question, we are not winning that game? Is there one team on our schedule right now that is CLEARLY head and shoulders better than OSU?"

OKC Dave put together his annual fan survey, and it is fascinating.

There are only 3 games where OSU fans register less than 60% confidence in a victory, and only 1 under 50%. Kansas State, West Virginia, and OU are those games that concern Cowboy fans the most. But even the trek to the land of Sooners still brings in a 44% winning confidence rating.

So why not say it?

This team can defend it's title, and could go undefeated doing it...and that's not a pipe dream.

In another post from a while ago, I listed every team on the schedule, just like the survey, and wondered aloud if OSU fans were ready for this, ready for the expectation. OU fans expect perfection. Why can't we?

Worst case scenario...7-5

Realistic expectation...10-2

AND WHY NOT JUST SAY IT...

Best case scenario...12-0. The Cowboys are the defending Big 12 champs...you want it, you can come pry it from our cold dead hands.

And I didn't have to get drunk or take medication to say that.

GO POKES!!!
