Mike Gundy held his regularly scheduled press conference on Monday, and true to form, managed to talk for twenty minutes without saying anything at all. Of particular interest to Cowboys fans, nothing was explicitly mentioned regarding the status of several injured Cowboys. The updated depth chart, however, confirmed that:
- Brandon Webb is expected to start at LG
- Chris Grisbhy (GRIZZ-Be) will be the starting RG with Lewis and Cross listed as co-second team (the infamous "or" adjoiner)
- Similarly, Blake Jackson is listed along with John Goodlett as co-second team (behind Tracy Moore)
When asked about the offensive tempo, however, Gundy did reiterate his stance that injured personnel hindered the tempo against Kansas State:
"...we lost three receivers for the last game and it limited our ability to play fast"
Perhaps sensing this as the only chance to outwit Gundy into disclosing the status of the wide receiver group, the reporters pressed Gundy one more time regarding his expectations for tempo against TCU. Paraphrased, Gundy responded that tempo affects some defenses more than others – yet refused to say whether a fast or slow game was expected against the Frogs. Judging from the official silence on the matter, I assume Blake Jackson and Austin Hays' status to be day-to-day.
