OKLAHOMA STATE HOPING FOR A NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER

Football's resurgence, along with The Old Spice Classic (and a visit by Memphis to GIA) for hoops, brings the possibility of a very memorable Thanksgiving holiday.

A month ago we were wallowing in concern over Yurcich and the offense.

Couldn't wait for basketball to start.

Now we are faced with OSU overload. The right things happen and the Cowboys will have TWO teams in the top 10 in national polls.

After the football team struggled through the beginning of the conference schedule, the Cowboys suddenly find themselves a couple of games from being in the driver's seat for the Big 12 title. This weekend's afternoon prime time game in Austin will be followed by the national slot on ABC next Saturday night in Stillwater as Baylor comes to town. Beat Texas, and Game Day is almost a lock.

If this team managed to get to 11-1, how different would that feel from 2011's 11-1 regular season?

Oh yea, BTW, Marcus Smart and Company started their season last Friday night, looking every bit the part of challenger to Kansas as they overwhelmed Mississippi Valley State, then completed the "Valley" sweep, handing Utah Valley the same treatment. After several seasons of struggles from behind the arc, Smart, Forte, Clark, and Brown have looked pretty deadly from deep, going 26-54 over these first two games, with Forte and Clark a combined 12-22 from 3pt land.

Hmmmmmmmmm.

Ford's crew faces their own coming out party when Memphis comes to GIA for and 8pm eastern game on Nov 19, carried by ESPN. This is a precursor to The Old Spice Classic over Thanksgiving weekend, which is perfect for Cowboys fans, as OSU football will be resting up for Bedlam the following week, and what could be a chance for a 2nd Big 12 title in 3 years.

This has the makings of a pretty monumental finish to November...or monumental crash....

Let's hope the Cowboys get the recipe right.
