Apologies for the tardiness of this week's recap post. This addition consists of 2 weeks worth of playoff action, as many teams played postponed games last week only to turn around and play again over the weekend.

WR James Washington was remarkable in the Texas Class A Division 1 semifinals, as he accounted for 23 total points for Samford in a close 29-26 victory over New Deal. Washington finished the game with 12 catches for 134 yards and 3 touchdowns, while adding a 2-point conversion reception and kicking all three of Samford's extra points. The biggest play of the night came in the final minute of the game when Samford trailed 26-21. On 4th and 10, Samford QB Bo Wimberly found Washington on a shallow crossing route short of the first down. James raced past the New Deal defense and into the end-zone for the game-winning score, and tacked on the 2-point conversion catch.

Samford continued their playoff run Saturday, defeating Hico 34-26. Washington finished with 5 catches for 82 yards and a touchdown. Samford will face Shiner for the Texas Class A State Championship on Thursday morning in AT&T Stadium.

CB Dylan Harding and the Jenks Trojans capped off a remarkable season winning their 26th straight game dating back to last season to take home the Oklahoma Class 6A Gold Ball. The Trojans defeated Union 38-22 to claim the 14th title in school history. Harding finished with 3 tackles (2 solo and 1 assisted) while adding a 10 yard reception on offense. Harding's teammate and Cowboy recruit Steven Parker had a monster game, hauling in 5 catches for 164 yards and a touchdown, while adding 6 tackles and added the game-sealing interception for Jenks on defense.

LB Justin Phillips and Pearland won a tough defensive game 10-3 last week against Cy-Fair in the Texas Class 5A Regional Finals. Phillips recorded 6 tackles in the victory. Pearland's defense came up big in the 2nd half, shutting out Cy-Fair to maintain the 7 point lead and securing the victory.

Pearland would go on to beat SA Madison last weekend 38-34 in a back and forth game. Pearland outscored Madison 28-17 in the 2nd half, and now advance to the Class 5A State Championship.

WR Chris Lacy and Desoto High defeated OL Lemaefe Galea'i and Euless Trinity 48-41 in the Texas Class 5A Division 1 Regional finals. Trailing by 1 with 6 seconds remaining, Desoto scored on a 2-yard touchdown to take the lead for good.

Allen put together a late 4th-quarter rally to defeat Desoto in the State Semifinals 42-35 on Saturday. Desoto jumped out to a 35-20 lead before Allen QB Kyler Murray led his teammates to 3 straight scores, taking in the game-winner himself with just 11 seconds remaining.

DE Cole Walterscheid and Muenster fell to Albany last week in the Class 1A Divsion II Regional semifinals 20-13.

CB Juwan Offray and DT Joyan Williams saw their season come to an end last week as Edna Karr fell to East Jefferson 38-28. Karr gave up 17 unanswered points in the 4th quarter.
