A SATURDAY FULL OF BOWLS AND BIG 12 BASKETBALL

College football bowl season gets underway, and both OSU's men's and women's basketball teams headline some pretty good Big 12 action.

Four games usher in Division I's annual post season competition for the most ridiculous bowl names:
All times eastern...

  • 2pm on ESPN, Gildan New Mexico Bowl, Colorado State vs Washington State
  • 3:30pm on ABC, Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl, Fresno State vs USC
  • 5:30pm on ESPN, Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, Buffalo vs San Diego State
  • 9pm on ESPN, R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, UL-Lafayette vs Tulane
Could be some good games here, and any bowl with USC is at least interesting on some basic level.

You can check out our Big 12 bowl previews and more bowl information here.

Basketball brings a lot to the table today, both for OSU and the Big 12.

Seventh ranked Marcus Smart and company (9-1) take on #20 Colorado (10-1) at 11:30pm eastern on ESPN2 in the MGM Grand Showcase in Las Vegas. This will be a solid test for the Cowboys as the Buffaloes only loss came in their season opener to Baylor. Colorado has since reeled off 10 straight wins against a fairly soft schedule, with the MAJOR exception being a 75-72 buzzer beater win over then #6 Kansas in Boulder.

The #13 Cowgirls bring their 9-0 record to the finals of the Puerto Rico Classic at 4pm eastern today against unranked Georgia Tech (8-2), whose only losses came on the road to then #4 Tennessee and #23 Georgia. Jim Littell's crew made a nice comeback against Michigan State in the first game. Today's game is not televised, but you can listen here if you have a subscription.

This is the only contest that looks decent among the 5 Big 12 women's games today.

On the men's side, every game is either good or intriguing.

#18 Kansas kicks it off at noon eastern on ESPN, hosting Georgetown (7-2) in Lawrence. Also at 12pm, Tulsa (4-7) travels to TCU (7-3).

At 3:30pm on ESPN2, #21 Gonzaga (10-1) visits Kansas State (7-3).

By far the 2nd most interesting game of today's Big 12 slate, Texas (9-1) plays host to #5 Michigan State (10-1) at 4pm on CBS.

Texas Tech (7-4) travels to Arizona State (9-2) for a 6:30pm contest televised on the PAC 12 network, meaning just about nobody will watch.

OU (10-1) winds up the rest of the Big 12 action at 7pm on ESPNU, visiting Texas A&M (8-2), who has yet to play a road game this season.

Lot's of stuff to enjoy!

GO POKES!!!
