Saturday's Bedlam contest provided an opportunity for Oklahoma State to host a number of recruits in front of a nationally televised audience. It appears the Cowboys have made an impression on one of those visitors, as All Purpose Back Sione Palelei out of East Ascension, LA has switched his verbal commitment from LSU to OSU.
Palelei is listed as the 12th-best all-purpose back in the country according to 247sports (17th by Rivals), and currently holds offers from Louisiana State, Arkansas, BYU, Georgia Tech, Louisiana Tech, Minnesota and Utah among others.
His 2013 season was cut short to just 5 games after suffering a torn ACL and MCL. Prior to the injury, Sione accounted for 752 yards on 58 carries and two touchdowns. As a junior, Palelei rushed for 828 yards and 13 touchdowns, while adding 20 receptions for 283 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Sione attended the game game with his father, and told Robert Allen of gopokes.com that a big reason why he made the switch was how well he was treated, and how well the players in the program are treated. Redshirt freshman Vili Levini and defensive tackle Ofa Hautau showed Palelei the ropes most of the weekend.
Palelei is the 3rd running back to commit to Oklahoma State for the 2014 class, joining Tyreek Hill and Devon Thomas, though Hill is expected to play wide receiver for the Cowboys.
