Rosa Medina recorded back-to-back shutouts to seal two Big 12 conference victories for the Cowgirls this weekend

The Cowgirls are officially one of two teams in the Big 12 title race after two home victories this weekend against TCU and Baylor.

On a cold and rainy Friday night, Oklahoma State managed to slide by TCU with a 1-0 victory. Madison Mercado punched in a goal in the 36th minute and goalkeeper Rosa Medina did the rest of the work to capture the win.

Medina continued to be the hot hand Sunday, recording back-to-back shutouts and not allowing a goal all weekend for the second time this season.

OSU and Baylor both started the match off slow, but the Cowgirls finally found the back of the net in the 36th minute after Delaney Kiely deflected in a corner kick. Anna Beffer doubled the score in the 70th minute after scoring her fourth goal of the season. Beffer is leading the team in goals, along with Allie Stephenson and Madison Mercado.

The Cowgirls have now won eight of their past 10 matches and have improved to 3-1-1 in Big 12 conference play. All three of OSU's victories have come at Cowgirl Soccer Complex, which coach Colin Carmichael said would be a major factor in claiming a Big 12 regular season conference title earlier this season. The Cowgirls' final home stand will be a Bedlam rematch against Oklahoma Friday night.

"It’s very important, we’re 3-1-1 in the league and we’re not talking about winning it at this point," Carmichael said. "But I think if we win Friday, depending on some other results, we might have that in our sights, but we’ve really been taking it one weekend at a time just to get back on the plus side, so we’re going to enjoy this. Bedlam will take care of itself. It'll be a big game Friday."

Oklahoma State is currently two points behind Big 12 frontrunner, Kansas, who sits at 4-0 in conference play.
