Coming into this week, many fans would have made plans for 7:30pm Eastern time on Saturday evening, and most of those plans would NOT have involved watching what many believe will be an NR-17 rated horror flick in McLane Stadium.
OSU travels to Waco for the start of what we knew would be a tough two-game stretch to end the season, but we didn't know until recently that this might be a massacre of epic proportions carried out on national TV. FOX must think their viewers enjoy watching the Cowboys get killed, as this will make two weeks in a row OSU has been on in primetime for an ass whipping.
But just as a number of us began to turn our disinterested eyes another direction, drama reached up and slapped us square in the face...
"Daxx Garman is out due to concussion-like symptoms."
"Daxx Garman practiced Wednesday. If he can practice Thursday, he'll start."
"Daxx Garman practiced Wednesday and didn't look good. Rudolph has been told he will start."
All of these quotes/rumors have been floating around this week. Taylor Cornelius has likely received more press than he will the rest of his football career.
So now we have a reason to watch...at least until we know the answer. Should Daxx come trotting out, I'm pretty sure most folks won't make it past the 1st quarter. Some will hang out to see what happens should Garman get banged up like he did against Texas.
If anybody else takes the first snap, we might be intrigued a little longer.
Either way, I don't think it will matter a whole lot. The offensive line is the worst I can remember, and Gundy and Company have clearly shown an unwillingness to do anything different. Baylor is a 25+ point favorite, and I don't think that's nearly enough, as they're still hurting from last seasons disaster in Stillwater.
As for the rest of the Big 12 and college football, the early slate is pretty bad.
Kansas State already survived a road trip to Morgantown on Thursday night, so the Wildcats are still hanging around in a tie for 1st in the conference.
Kansas travels to Norman (12pm Eastern, FS1) fresh off their scare of TCU. Now that I'm all for chaos, I'd love to see an upset in Norman.
The afternoon games aren't much better. Texas Tech travels to Ames, and the Cyclones are actually favored in this 3:30pm Eastern game carried on FSN.
Texas and TCU have byes ahead of their Thanksgiving Day matchup.
The rest of college football is fairly lame.
Anyway, join us in our collective agony on Twitter and in the comments. Who knows, crazier things have happened.
GO POKES!!!
