BASKETBALL GAMETHREAD: Oklahoma State at TCU

The return of Marcus Smart brought an end to the losing streak, albeit against Texas Tech. Now the Cowboys will try for something they haven't done since early January...win consecutive games...and it would seem TCU is likely to be a cooperative opponent.

Before OSU waltzes into Daniel-Meyer Coliseum thinking a win is a sure thing, they should examine those numbers above...TCU's conference record and KU's season record prior to the Jayhawks losing to the Horned Frogs on Feb 6, 2013.

This season is running along a similar path for TCU. They were 10-18 (1-14) at the end of February last season. With one game remaining this month, the Frogs are 9-17 (0-14). Seven of their losses in Big 12 play have been by 12 points or less.

Coming off a "refreshing" win over Tech, the Cowboys need to pay attention, as TCU will try to "ugly" this game up, slow down the tempo, and thereby keep the score low.

KenPom predicts 74-64 OSU, with 82% confidence in a Cowboy win. The "thrill score" of 31.5 means this is not good basketball to watch, but it still ranks 6th on KenPom's list for college hoops tonight. That means there is some crappy hoops viewing this evening, with only 2 games scoring above 50 on the "thrill score" meter (SU @ Maryland & OU @ KU). There are no games over 70.

OSU won the previous meeting in Stillwater, 82-50.
