Palestine, Texas native Jarrell Owens has officially signed with Oklahoma State. Owens held offers from TCU, Texas State, Texas Tech, and Louisiana-Monroe.
Listed at 6-3 240 lbs, Owens finished the 2013 season strong accounting for 23 tackles (6 tackles for a loss), and 2 caused fumbles. Owens earned Honorable Mention All-East Texas Honors as a senior, and recently switched his commitment from TCU to OSU on Februrary 2nd.
ESPN has Owens evaluated as a running back.
Owens has dominant size and playing strength for the running back position at the BCS level of play and his sturdy frame appears capable of supporting additional bulk over time provided foot quickness isn't compromised. This is a between-the-tackles runner with the ability to move the pile in short yardage situations. We see an athlete with very good balance and agility who is quicker than fast. He lacks a burst or second gear.
