College Basketball Top 25 Polls: Week 18

This week's Top 25 Polls are out, which Big 12 teams made it in?

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

For the fourth straight week the Big 12 had three teams make the cut in the polls.

#8 Kansas

KU fell just three spots after Saturday night's loss to Oklahoma State. They rank 8th in both polls. The Jayhawks will wrap up the regular season against Texas Tech and West Virginia this week, but they will have to do it without their freshman phenom Joel Emiid.

#16 Iowa State

Iowa State fell at Kansas State, but the win against West Virginia earlier in the week kept them from falling in the polls. The Cyclones dropped one spot to 16th in the AP Poll, and remained at 17th in the Coaches.

#23 Oklahoma

Last week Texas was the third Big 12 team in the polls, but after being drummed by Oklahoma, the Sooners have replaced the Longhorns in both polls. OU will defend their ranking this week against West Virginia and TCU.

On The Outside Looking In

If the polls went to 26, Texas would still be ranked. It's been a rough stretch for the Longhorns as of late. They've lost 3 of the last 4, but with games against Texas Tech and TCU upcoming, they should be able to get some things worked out before the conference tournament.

The only other Big 12 schools receiving honorable mention are set to square off tonight in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Kansas received the second most votes for teams on the outside, but it's not going to be easy for the Wildcats to break into the polls. KSU's final two games are against Oklahoma State and Baylor.

The Cowboys made a statement against Kansas, that this team wasn't done. It looks like the nation agrees. OSU received one vote in the AP, and 4 votes in the Coaches Poll! Wins against K-State, and Iowa State this week could see the Pokes ranked in the Top 25 next week, and would all but guarantee they make the tournament of 68.
