Scout.com lists Kolar as a 3-star prospect. Standing at 6' 4" and weighing 185 pounds, John is a big, athletic QB that isn't afraid to tuck the ball and run.
Kolar took over the reigns at Norman North High School last season after Alabama commitment David Cornwell was injured. Playing only half the season, John racked up 1,693 yards and 15 touchdowns while throwing just two picks. He finished the season with a 64.5% completion percentage.
