Anthony Allen, a 7-1 center hailing from Lamar State, has committed to Oklahoma State. Allen, who may be best known as the leading JUCO shot blocker the past two years, will provide some serious rim protection for the Pokes. I mean, over the past two years, he's blocked 353 shots! 353!
Allen visited Stillwater this past weekend, and was deciding between Memphis and OSU. He's widely considered one of the better JUCO transfers available this class, and he provides some much needed depth at center for OSU. This should allow for Kamari to stay at his natural position at PF, leaving Cobbins, Allen, and potentially Mitch Solomon to protect the rim. We may finally have some depth at center!
Allen is the 6th commitment of the 2014 class, joining Joe Burton, Jared Terrell, Mitch Solomon, Tyree Griffin, and Jeff Newberry.
I don't know about y'all, but I'm already excited for next season. It feels very much like a fresh start with so many new faces, and it should be fun watching these young players grow and develop over the next four years.
There's honestly not a lot of highlights or scouting reports of Allen around, but it sounds like we finally got the center we so desperately needed last season.
Go Pokes!
