On a day when a bunch of Cowboys were taken in the MLB draft, OSU needs to utilize that talent if they want to survive to play another day.
The normally fundamentally sound Pokes looked anything but last night in dropping Game 1 of the Super Regional to UC-Irvine, 8-4.
To dig out of the hole and force an elimination game on Sunday, OSU will need to defeat UCI's #1 starter, Andrew Morales. Morales is tied for 4th in the country in strikeouts with 128 over 17 starts, averaging a little over 1 SO per inning and only 28 walks. He's 10-2 on the season with 2 complete games. He's allowed only 1 triple and 1 home run, and 26 runs. Opponents are batting .182 against the Anteaters ace.
This will be a tall task for the Cowboys, although this is not without precedent. OSU won 2 series this season after losing game one to TCU & Texas, the top two pitching teams in the Big 12.
GO POKES!!!
