RB Ronald Jones II

McKinney North opened the 2014 season with a 45-16 win over Carollton Newman Smith. Jones was limited to 62 yards on 13 carries.

QB John Kolar

Kolar had an impressive showing in the Mustang Pigskin Preview. The scrimmage was cut short due to lightning in the area, but Norman North Coach Wade Standley said he was happy with the team's performance, particularly the play of Kolar and his decision making. Many inexperienced receivers were also able to make plays for Kolar which is a very positive sign going into the season.

CB Jaylon Lane

Nacogdoches pulled off a thrilling upset Friday, defeating Kilgore 27-25 on a game-winning 33 yard field goal as time expired. Late in the first half, Kilgore QB Xaviar Gaona tried to throw the ball away to avoid a sack, but the ball was thrown laterally allowing Jaylon Lane to recover the ball and return it 59 yards leading to a field goal to end the half.

OT Johnny Wilson

Midland Christian is scheduled to play their opening game on September 1st against Highland High. The team is projected to finish 3rd in thier new district TAPPS Division 1 District 1 according to the Midland Reporter-Telegram. The team finished 14-0 and 6-0 in District 2 last season.

S Kenneth McGruder

Alief Taylor defeated Bush and fellow OSU commit Joshua Jones 7-0 Friday in a tight defensive battle. The Taylor defense was spectacular all night, intercepting Bush QB Jaz Johnson 3 times.

LB Za'Carrius Green

Duncanville knocked off Arlington 32-29 on Friday night. Duncanville took the lead for good on a 10 yard touchdown strike will 2:14 left in the game. The defense came up with a big sack on 3rd down to force a punt that started the game-winning drive, and then closed the game with another sack with 1:10 remaining to seal the win.

DT Taaj Bakari

Mansfield Legacy beat Lovejoy 54-35. Bakari finished with 7 tackles (4 solo).

OT Joshua Jones

Bush lost a low scoring battle 7-0 to Alief Taylor. Josh and the rest of the Bush offensive line helped the team account for 129 yards rushing and 200 yards total.

DT Motekai Maile

John Tyler came up with a big victory over Plano 30-12 Friday night. The Tyler defense carried much of the load as defensive back Bryston Gipson had a 50-yard pick 6 to open up scoring for Tyler early in the 3rd quarter. He later had a 20-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown to help seal the win.

OT Brandon Pertile

Mesa Community College fell to Glendale Community College 48-27 Saturday. Pertile's team fell behind 31-0 early, and were never able to overcome the deficit.
