Cowgirls Find a Groove

Oklahoma State has now won three straight matches after slipping by Memphis Friday night

Oklahoma State is officially on a winning streak for the first time this season after defeating Memphis, 1-0, in the opening match of the OSU Invitational for the Cowgirls' third straight win to improve to 3-6-0 Friday night.

Coutney Dike struck quick, just under three minutes into the match, with her first goal of the season. Dike's goal would wind up being all the Cowgirls would need to upend Memphis (3-3-2). The victory also marked back-to-back shutouts for Rosa Medina, who tallied four saves in the contest.

"The most pleasing thing tonight was the shutout," OSU coach Colin Carmichael said. "We got a shutout last Sunday (vs. UT Martin), and tonight we worked really hard as a unit. It was not our prettiest game, not our best game, but the girls found a way to grind it out. That's important to us."

Oklahoma State will need the momentum to carry over to Sunday for the Cowgirls' toughest match of the OSU Invitational. The Cowgirls will challenge Tulsa, who will be looking for blood after dropping its second game of the season Friday afternoon to No. 6 Texas Tech, 3-1.
