Cowboys In The NFL - Week 3

After suffering through an exhausting weekend of watching football with no Oklahoma State football, it was refreshing to see some of our former Cowboy greats in action in the NFL.

The college Cowboys had a bye week this weekend as they prepare for Texas Tech this upcoming Thursday. But football never stops and multiple Cowboys had good weeks for their respective teams in the NFL. Let's go ahead and take a look at who did what in this week's version of Cowboys in the NFL.

Dan Bailey (Dallas) - Bailey had another good week hitting two field goals (29, 40). More importantly he set the new Dallas Cowboy record for most consecutive made field goals (28).

Dez Bryant (Cowboys) - Bryant had another good week with six catches for 89 yards and a huge touchdown catch in a comeback win for Dallas.

Perrish Cox (49ers) - After a strong start in week one Cox has fallen off a bit. He wrangled in two tackles this week against Arizona.

Justin Gilbert (Browns) - Gilbert's starting role was in jeopardy after a poor week one performance. A week later it appeared he had solidified his job with an impressive week two. But in week three, against the Ravens, former Cowboy fans were sad to see Gilbert's snaps scaled back. The first round pick recorded no tackles or pass breakups.

Charlie Johnson (Vikings) - Johnson played well against the Saints this week despite an 11 point loss and switching QBs mid game.

Russell Okung (Seahawks) - In his 48th start in Seattle, Okung helped defend the Seahawks Super Bowl winning quarterback, Russell Wilson, from a dangerous Denver Broncos front seven.

Brandon Pettigrew (Lions) - Pettigrew's stock is falling FAST. He didn't catch a pass for the second straight week. In a pass happy offense he was expected to catch about 40 passes this season.

Joseph Randle (Cowboys) - Randle played a limited role behind Demarco Murray who had a great week. The former Poke had two carries for nine yards in a Cowboy win.

Antonio Smith (Raiders) - Smith had two tackles against the Patriots this week.

Kevin Williams (Seahawks) - Williams had two tackles against the Broncos in another Seahawk win.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: After careful thought and deliberation I think that Dan Bailey is the deserving player of the week. He improved to a perfect 7-7 in field goal attempts this season. Outside of Dez Bryant, Bailey is the most consistent player in the NFL from Oklahoma State.
