Nerdalicious Numbers: A Third of the Way through Conference Play

The Cowboys have played a third of their conference games, so how do they stack up?

With 6 of the 18 conference games played, the Cowboys are tied for 6th with a 3-3 (.500) record, with all 3 wins at home and all 3 losses on the road.

First, the Cowboys played host to Kansas State where they came away with the 14-point win. They then tried their hand at defeating Hilton Magic in Ames but fell short as their final shot was blocked at the buzzer before returning home to battle it out with #10 Texas. The Cowboys got hot in the second half of the game to walk out with an 11-point victory and into the Phog in Lawrence. Fouls were the problem as the Jayhawks shot a total of 46 free throws on their way to a 10-point win over the Cowboys, the largest margin of victory between both teams in the last 3 seasons.

Then, Travis Ford went looking for his first win in Norman. He would not receive it as the Sooners trounced the Cowboys with Buddy Hield going 10-10 from the field for 27 points. The Cowboys then returned home on Wednesday night to secure a 20-point domination over Texas Tech. At the end of this initial stretch, Nash and Forte are 2nd and 3rd respectively in scoring in the Big 12. Forte and Hickey are currently 1st and 3rd in steals and Cobbins is 2nd in blocks.
