All players that play at OSU hold a special place in our hearts, but those that make it to the big leagues are especially adored and revered. There are three Cowboys playing in the Super Bowl, and all three are on the Seattle Seahawks. So uh.. Go hawks!
Russell Okung
T, #76
Because Russell Okung is an offensive lineman he may not get as much recognition as guy like Dez Bryant, but he actually was the second highest pick in Oklahoma State history. Picked 6th overall in the 2010 NFL Draft. Although Russell has battled some injuries over his career he's been consistent for the Seattle Seahawks . He's part of the line that blocks for Marshawn Lynch and provides protection for Russell Wilson. This isn't Russell's first trip to the Superbowl either, as least year the Seahawks took home the hardware.
At Oklahoma State, Russell was part of the shift in the culture under Mike Gundy. He was a big part of the teams with Dez Bryant and Zac Robinson.
Kevin Williams
DT, #94
It's been a long road for Williams in the NFL. Kevin Williams is a twelve-year pro. Drafted in 2003 by the Minnesota Vikings with the 9th overall pick, he went on to earn six Pro Bowl Appearances. This is Williams first season in Seattle, and interestingly enough he seems to be destined for the Super Bowl this year, as he almost ended up a Patriot.
"It was down to Seattle and the Patriots, as far as my last two, but I think I made the right decision," Williams told Sporting News.
At Oklahoma State he was a big part of the improvement of the program during his time at OSU. He recorded 160 tackles, 38 for loss, and 18.5 sacks in his 42 game career!
Ryan Robinson
DE, 44
Ryan Robinson is on the practice squad for the Seahawks. This is his second year in the league after being signed by the Oakland Raiders in 2013. He appeared in 11 games for the Raiders recording 4 combined tackles on the year. This year he has just been a practice player for Seattle.
Robinson was signed as a JUCO guy for Oklahoma State. He was a backup on the 2011 team that won the Big 12 and started every game at defensive end in 2012 as a senior. Robinson's 2011 stats were: 13 game played, 21 total tackles, 3 for loss and 1 sack.
These are the Pokes participating in this years Super Bowl, so if you don't have a dog in the fight you might consider cheering for the Seahawks.
Go Pokes!
