Buy or Sell: Pokes Hold Tech Under 30

In a usually high scoring affair, can the Big 12's best defense hold Mahomes and company under 30?

It's the Big 12 and we all know offense is king. Oklahoma State and Texas Tech regularly put up points in bunches, but you'd be surprised how effective the Cowboys have been in recent times against Tech. The question is can they do it again with Gundy's best defense in his time in Stillwater?

BUY

The Pokes have owned Tech of late, winning the last six in the series. They've also held the Red Raiders under 30 in four of those contests. None of those defenses were at the level this one has shown throughout the season.Oklahoma State is in the top 25 in total defense this season (21). Ogbah and company are also second in the nation in sacks (27) and are also in the top 25 in points allowed at just 18.9 per game. OSU has only given up 30 points twice this season and hasn't allowed more than 30 yet on the road this season.

The Texas Tech offense has slowed down the last two weeks after putting up points in bunches at the beginning of the season, scoring just 30 on a weak Kansas team and 27 last week against OU. In addition, Tech's three highest scoring outputs were against Sam Houston State, UTEP and Iowa State. Not exactly defensive powerhouses. In a typically high flying rivalry, Oklahoma State's top tier defense gets it done pressuring Mahomes, and a deep and talented secondary holds the receivers at bay showing the country just how good this defense is.

SELL

This is Oklahoma State vs Texas Tech, points will be scored. The Red Raiders, despite being off their normal pace the last two weeks, are still fifth in the country in scoring at 46.6 points per game. Ogbah and Bean won't be able to disrupt Mahomes as much as other quarterbacks as Tech as given up just 11 sacks through eight games due to the quick passing attack.

Another thing in Tech's favor as far as scoring goes is that they are currently 120th in the country in scoring defense giving up just over 40 points per game. Oklahoma State should score early and often giving Mahomes plenty of possessions to put up points. OSU may have its best defense in a long time but in this game that won't be evident as Tech will need to score a lot to keep up with what their defense gives up. I'll take the over on points.
