Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington State Cougars entered Gallagher-Iba Arena with an undefeated record and left Stillwater with their first loss of the season. The Cowgirls improved to 6-0 after defeating Washington State 70-60 in front of 2,410 fans.

Junior guard Alana Simon made her first big appearance on the court, scoring 12 points in the first half to help keep the Cowgirls within striking distance, 34-33. Simon finished the night with 16 points on seven field goals and six rebounds. At the beginning of the second half, the Cowgirls held the Lady Cougars scoreless for a four-minute stretch while Brittney Martin and Kaylee Jensen scored eight points apiece to give OSU a 10-point advantage.

Martin, Jensen and Simon became the first trio to score at least 15 points this season despite Martin and Jensen having early foul trouble. Oklahoma State has now won 45 consecutive non-conference home games dating back to December, 2010. Despite being 6-0 this season, the Cowgirls are yet to be ranked in the AP Top 25, but are receiving votes. The Cowgirls return to action this Saturday at noon to take on Texas-Rio Grande Valley at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
