Oklahoma State lands linebacker from Pleasaton, Texas

Some good news, thankfully, on the recruiting trail.

The Oklahoma State football team got a much needed recruit today. Zach Smith, an outside linebacker from Pleasanton, Texas, announced his commitment via Twitter a week after the Cowboys lost two key commitments via Twitter as well.

The 6-4, 210 senior had offers from Air Force, Army, and Houston along with some DII offers. Smith comes from a family of athletic football players. His father played football at Texas Tech, while his younger brother has some D1 offers himself.

Outside of the departure of Ryan Simmons, the Cowboys are as deep at linebacker than any other position. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Smith redshirt his freshman year, but the potential is there. And we all know there’s nobody better at molding diamonds in the rough to playmakers than Mike Gundy
