Tomorrow the LOI's will start rolling in, but before National Signing Day kicks into full gear, we thought we'd take a look at where the Oklahoma State class ranks before the big day.
The Pokes have an average class ranking of 38th between ESPN, Rivals, Scout, and 247Sports. 247Sports is most favorable to OSU with a ranking of 36th in the country, but ESPN is evaluating key commitments a little higher with six 4-star recruits tallied. Overall it looks to be a solid class in a year the Pokes are returning a lot of talent.
The Headliners
John Kolar
Kolar is a Quarterback out of Norman Oklahoma, and has already signed is Letter Of Intent. Standing 6'4" and 185 lbs, he's number 72 on ESPN's Top 300. Mason Rudolph is the clear #1 QB going forward, however it's crucial for Gundy to develop QB depth for the future to avoid another Garman debacle.
Chris Carson
Carson, a 4-star running back out of Lilburn, GA, just made waves on the recruiting trail when he flipped from Georgia to the Pokes just days before National Signing Day. Carson has become the most important signee tomorrow. If OSU is going to make a Big 12 title run, they need to bolster the RB depth behind Childs.
Louis Brown
Brown is listed as a 6'5", 210 lbs, 4-star athlete. Look for Brown to bring some athleticism to the defensive end, or even tight end position.
Kevin Henry
Kevin is a safety out of Baton Rouge, LA. He's listed at 6'1", and 217 lbs. The guy is going to be a star in the secondary. Probably won't have an immediate impact since the safeties as a whole are young, but long term he will play a big roll for several years.
Darrion Daniels
Daniels is a 6'5", 295 lbs, consensus 4-star defensive tackle out of Dallas Texas. It's been a long time since OSU has had a legitimate all-star at DT out of high school. He will most definitely see some playing time next year with Castleman and Hautau gone.
Commitments To Keep An Eye On
Every year recruits change their minds at the last minute, and it can change the perception of the class. These are teenage kids trying to make a decision that will shape the rest of their lives after all. There will be a couple of LOI's, that when they come in, will let Gundy breathe a little easier.
Those paying attention might want to keep their eye on Kevin Henry. He just took an official visit to Miami last weekend, and has posted on Twitter about being stressed. Could be nothing, could be everything. This wouldn't be the first time he's changed his mind either. Before committing to the Cowboys, Henry was committed to LSU.
Chris Carson will also be one to watch. He just committed to the Cowboys, but had reportedly reaffirmed his commitment to Georgia just the night before.
Last Minute Hopeful
Chris Warren III is a 6'2", 235 lb, running back out of Rockwall, TX, and he's unsigned. The 4-star back is reportedly leaning towards Texas and Washington, but after an official visit January 16th, recent rumors suggest the Cowboys may have a chance to land him. It would be a huge flip for Gundy, maybe his biggest ever, if he can pull it off.
