Jeff Carr is officially a Cowboy, he signed his letter of intent today after committing to the Cowboys on January 31st. Carr, who is listed as a two star prospect by rivals, has largely flown under the radar of top schools. In fact, Oklahoma State was his first major scholarship offer, although he was receiving attention from Baylor and Texas Tech.

Despite the lack of interest shown by Division I schools, Carr will be an excellent addition to a Cowboy backfield desperately in need of depth. At 5-9 170 lbs, Carr is a little undersized for a Big 12 running back. However, he runs a 4.4 forty and has an excellent knack for making people miss.

Carr played for Temple High School in Texas, where he ran for 1,710 yards on 179 carries last year. His explosive abilities should allow him to be an excellent home-run threat and change of pace back. He should also be able to contribute as a return specialist.

With Chris Carson and Todd Mays coming into the Cowboys backfield from the junior college ranks, I would expect a redshirt season from Carr in 2015. In the future I would expect Carr to turn into another explosive play-maker on the Cowboys offense.
