S Za'Carrius Green has decided to take his talents to Stillwater, OK for at least the next three years. Green, a 3 star prospect from Duncanville, TX (Duncanville High School), is 6'0" and 194 lbs. He runs a 4.550 second 40 yard dash time. Green is the 41st ranked safety in the US, and is the 92nd overall player in the state of Texas.
Green attracted a lot of attention on the recruiting trail, drawing 7 FBS offers. Those offers came from Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, North Texas, LSU, Louisiana Tech, Iowa, Iowa State, and Kansas. Green immediately eliminated Kansas because he didn't want to play basketball (10000% kidding, by the way.) Green verbally committed to Oklahoma State on 6/20/14, and signed his letter of intent on Wednesday. Green will have to compete with incoming freshmen Kevin Henry, Kenneth McGruder, and Bryce Balous at his anticipated safety position.
Green lined up at OLB a lot in high school, but is expected to make the transition to safety in college because his size better fits that position at the FBS level. He plays with great instinct, and because of his past at OLB, is hard hitting in run support. Green needs to work on his coverage, but it is expected to improve over a period of time as valuable experience is gained. Za'Carrius will be an impact player on special teams right away, if he can avoid being redshirted, which is a real possibility.
