Bedlam - a state of chaos.
Oklahoma State caused that to the Sooners as they beat Oklahoma, 73-42. Not only did the players on the court help, but the 4,000 or so in the stands helped to fuel the burning fire that was left when the men's team fell short on Wednesday night. During Sherri Coale's head coaching career, this game would be the worst bedlam loss since 1997, when she was in her first year with OU.
The Cowgirls improved their shooting performance by making 27-of-59 field goals and also out-rebounding Oklahoma with 39. Senior Brittney Martin put on a show with 19 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals. Not only did the All-American shine, but she also got some help from Freshman Karli Wheeler's three-point shooting in the first half. At the end of the first half, Cowgirls hit six three-pointers and forced Oklahoma with 13 turnovers. The turnover numbers would continue to increase for Oklahoma, ending with 20 and the Cowgirls took advantage by grabbing 22 points off those turnovers.
This is the Cowgirls second win over a top 25 opponent this month and move to 13-4 and 3-3 in conference play so far this season. This could be a special season for the Cowgirls if they keep the momentum moving forward. OSU will look to get revenge against Iowa State at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Wednesday.
