The last time that the Cowgirls went on the road, they fell short in Ames, Iowa. However, they didn't have any problems when they hit the road again to Lubbock and defeated Texas Tech, 69-46.
The Cowgirls had a slow start in the first quarter when The Red Raiders kept Oklahoma State scoreless until the second quarter. However, despite the scoreless drought, Brittney Martin scored 10 points and had five rebounds to help the Cowgirls maintain the lead at halftime, 26-17.
After halftime, Cowgirls came back in the third quarter without any scoring problems with a 6-0 run. The scoring run continued at the end of the third quarter when Freshman Guard Karli Wheeler made three 3 pointers in a row to extend the Cowgirl lead. At the end of the night, Wheeler made 4 3-pointers and a career-high of 19 points off the bench. Martin finished the game with 16 points and was one board shy of a double-double.
This victory against Tech helped the Cowgirls move to 12-2 overall and 2-1 in conference. Also, the victory helped Head Coach Jim Littell earned his 100th victory and became the third coach in program history to reach that mark. Cowgirls return to Gallagher Iba-Arena on Saturday as they take on undefeated #4 Texas.
