The Oklahoma State Cowboys take their second bye-week of the season as they prepare for a winner-take-all Bedlam match-up next week.
With the Cowboys resting, we’re bringing back to Bye Week draft. Here’s how it works: each of us will pick one former OSU athlete currently playing professionally. Football, golf, basketball... it’s all up for grabs. No double picks were allowed and the top two picks get points. Three points for the winner, one point for the runner up.
First, here are the standings after Week 11:
Cade - 32 points
Dustin - 31 points
Phillip - 31 points
Christopher/Kyle - 27 points
Joel - 26 points
The bonus points could help a couple players (finally) jump past Cade, or help him reestablish his solid lead.
Now let’s get to the picks.
Phillip
Rickie Fowler
World Cup of Golf | Paired with Jimmy Walker | Thurs. Nov 24th - Sun. Nov. 27th
If you’ve never head of the World Cup of Golf, don’t worry, I hadn’t either before today. The World Cup of Golf is a collection of two-man teams from 28 different countries who compete in 72 holes of team stroke play. The tournament is every two years. This year it’s in Australia. Fowler generally does pretty well in stroke play. Matched up with Jimmy Walker I expect the two of them to finish this tournament well.
Side note: Fellow OSU alum Alex Noren is also competing in this tournament. The Swedish native is teamed with David Lingmerth.
Cade
Emmanuel Ogbah
Cleveland Browns (Damn) | vs New York Giants | Sunday, Nov. 26th @ 12:00 P.M.
This is what happens when I wait until the last minute to pick. That said, I’m not crazy about the Dez Bryant/Josh Norman. Dan Bailey is a cyborg so Christopher should win this week. I do think Ogbah has had a successful rookie season by all accounts, and could get a sack or two against a lackluster New York Giants offensive line.
Dustin
Dez Bryant
Dallas Cowboys | vs Washington Redskins | Thursday, Nov. 24th @ 3:30 p.m.
I think the last time we did the Bye Week special edition, Dez was hurt, or else I would've picked him. He's coming off two solid games in a row with a combined 196 yards and 3 touchdowns.
This dude is a freak:
Christopher
Dan Bailey
Dallas Cowboys | vs Washington Redskins | Thursday, Nov. 24th @ 3:30 p.m.
He's the best kicker in football, and it's not that close. Bailey has had another fantastic season and is on a roll, having not missed a kick since October 2. If things tighten up at all in the divisional rivalry game against the Redskins, Bailey could have a big day.
Joel
Marcus Smart
Boston Celtics | vs San Antonio Spurs | Friday, Nov. 25th @ 12:00 p.m.
I'll take Marcus Smart again. He got me the points on the last bye week so I feel confident he'll have a breakout game at some point later this week. He's averaging 10.5 a game so per game so far this year, and I'm hoping for a big game from him. I needed to go bold since I'm in last place.
