What Result Would You Be Ok With In Underwood’s First Season

There is a lot of excitement going into this year

In this week’s Sunday Poll, we’re turning our attention to basketball. I realize we’re reaching the pinnacle point of the football season, but OSU basketball starts this week (games that count). The Cowboys begin the Brad Underwood era against the Campbell Camels on Friday at Gallagher Iba Arena on Friday.

There is a lot of anticipation for this season. I don’t think I’ve been this excited for the start of Cowboy basketball since the start of the ‘04-’05 season. It certainly wasn’t tampered by OSU setting an exhibition point total record in their 117-64 win over Pitt State last Tuesday.

From what I saw on twitter, I think a lot of other people feel the same way. The Cowboys looked different from what we’ve seen the past few season, in the best way possible. Ball movement, hustle, good active defense.

Look back at what he did in his first season at Stephen F. Austin.

In the 2013-14 season, the Lumberjacks went 32-3, including 18-0 in conference. They also knocked off 5 seed VCU in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Granted, it’s not like the Lumberjacks we’re garbage the year before. Under then coach Danny Kaspar, SFA went 27-5 and 16-2 in conference. They lost in the first round of the NIT. Underwood had a good team to start out with.

OSU, meanwhile, was not so great last year. If you need a reminder, the Cowboys were 12-20, 3-15 in conference and ended the season on a seven game losing streak. Granted, the teams two best players were out at this point.

I think Underwood will have a successful first season at OSU. I believe he will have a very successful career with the Cowboys. The question I have this week, with all the excitement and anticipation...

What is the worst result you would be "ok" with in Underwood’s first season? Mark you answer in the poll, and as always, feel free to offer your further thoughts in the comments section (it might end up in the poll recap later this week)!
