REPORT: J.W. Walsh Getting a New Coaching Job

The former OSU QB will reportedly get a full-time coaching gig.

Oklahoma v Oklahoma State

In a move that should surprise just about nobody, J.W. Walsh is reportedly moving up in the college coaching world.

Denton Record-Chronicle Sportswriter Adam Boedecker tweeted out last night, that the former Oklahoma State quarterback is expected to be named the running back coach at Abilene Christian. Denton is of course where Walsh played high school football for his father, John Walsh, the head coach of Denton Guyer High School.

J.W. Walsh would be joining new head coach Adam Dorrell’s staff. Dorrell comes to Abilene Christian from Northwest Missouri State where he coached his team to three NCAA Division II championships in four years.

The General, as J.W. Walsh was fondly referred to by his fans, played quarterback at OSU from 2012 through 2015. He joined TCU’s staff in 2016 as an offensive graduate assistant.

I don’t think it’s too surprising to see Walsh get a full-time coaching position just a year into his coaching career. Here’s hoping one day we see him on the sidelines at Oklahoma State again (in orange).
