Well, it wasn’t the result OSU fans wanted...once again. For the 86th time in Bedlam history, OU was the victor. Winning the rivalry game as well as the Big 12 Conference title for a second straight year. OSU finishes its season 9-3 and will face Colorado in the Alamo Bowl on December 29th.
Quite frankly I don’t want to talk about this game much, it’s as painful to think about as it was to watch. Other CRFF writers have said enough about the game since Saturday, so I’m going to go to my usual piece. I did find an ever so slight positive from the game on Saturday, and I’m going to quickly hit on that.
My unsung hero from Bedlam on Saturday was Barry J. Sanders. The graduate transfer running back has mostly been a return specialist this season. Some returns have been good, but others not. This week he did a fantastic job flipping field position. He returned the ball 4 times for a total of 138 yards, including one return of 56 yards into OU territory. Even though it is late in the season, Barry getting solid returns against a good special teams unit could prove to be a huge advantage in the bowl game against the Buffaloes. If he can get OSU into good field position consistently in that game, it will take some of the pressure off of the offense. I wish this could have happened earlier in the season, but better late than never, right?
