Wrestling: No. 4 Oklahoma State sweeps No. 7 Oklahoma in Bedlam Series

Oklahoma State's fourth-ranked wrestling team defeated seventh-ranked Oklahoma to earn a season sweep in the Bedlam Series with a 26-11 win at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The Cowboys picked up four bonus-point victories after dropping the first two bouts of the dual to the Sooners, including a 5-3 upset of No. 5 Eddie Kilmara.

Top-ranked 141-pounder Dean Heil put the Cowboys on the board with a 16-1 technical fall over Noah Teaney. No. 13 Anthony Collica followed it up with a dominant 16-6 decision to give the Cowboys a 9-8 lead.

The bonus-points continued to roll in when two-time national champion Alex Dieringer picked up a major decision over No. 12 Clark Glass at 165. The win extends Dieringer's win streak to 69.

Nolan Boyd regained the Cowboys momentum after No. 5 Kyle Crutchmer suffered a 3-2 loss to unranked Matt Reed. The Sooner wrestler received the upset thanks to an unsportsmanlike point after a leg injury. Boyd grabbed three takedowns and a couple near falls for a 15-2 major decision over Andrew Dixon.

Sixth-ranked Joe Smith, in his Bedlam Series debut, earned an 11-4 major decision over Shayne Tucker at 157. Preston Weigel got the start at 197, and clinched the sweep with a third-period ride out for a 4-3 decision against Brad Johnson. At heavyweight, No. 5 Austin Marsden capped the dual with a 2-1 win over No. 16 Ross Larson.

The Cowboys travel Sunday to Ithaca, N.Y. to wrestle No. 15 Cornell in a non conference dual.
