It wasn't a pretty win, but as they say, "a win is a win," as Oklahoma State beat Texas Tech, 70-57.
In the first quarter, the Cowgirls (18-4) had no sign of trouble as they went on a 10-0 run and didn't fall behind throughout most of the game. However, Texas Tech showed signs of life by shooting 67 percent from the beyond the arc to stay close within the game. At the end of the first half, OSU had a slim lead over the Red Raiders, 34-30.
In the second half, the Cowgirls cooled Texas Tech's three-point performance down, but the Red Raiders were not far from the Cowgirls. Senior All-American Brittney Martin recorded her eighth double-double of the season (had 18 points and nine rebounds at half) and would end up with 32 shooting 11-of-19 from the field. Sophmore Kaylee Jensen helped the Cowgirls stay on top by scoring 14-out-16 attempts - most of them in the fourth quarter. However, Sophmore Mandy Coleman had an impressive performance scoring 14 points - in large part due to Jensen getting into foul trouble. Senior Roddricka Patton recorded double-double assists for the fourth time in the last five games.
Martin finished the game with 32 points and 15 rebounds. Despite the gutsy win, Oklahoma State moves to 18-4 overall and 8-3 in Big 12 play. For the first time since 1992, the Cowgirls have won six straight in conference play and have a one game lead for third place in the Big 12 over West Virginia. With this victory, OSU is likely to be a certain lock for this year's NCAA Tournament. Oklahoma State has a tough road test ahead as they travel to Austin to face No. 4 Texas on Wednesday.
