From the past couple of years, we had a selection Sunday and Monday, but sadly this year we only have one as today is Selection Monday. Oklahoma State is looking for their fourth straight NCAA tournament and tenth straight postseason appearance. Also, OSU will be hosting a watch party at Boone Pickens Stadium with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. at the south side. If you can't watch it, then follow my Twitter account, @CLee_Journalist as I will be at the watch party and will tweet updates as the selection show goes on.
Last time the Cowgirls made the tournament was last year when they were one of the last four teams to get in and aced Florida Gulf Coast University for the second straight year. Sadly, FGCU got their revenge and sent the Cowgirls home after the first round.
As for the resume to get into the tournament, here is a breakdown of the Cowgirl's resume:
Tournament Resume
Oklahoma State Cowgirls (21-9, 11-7)
- Noticeable Wins: No. 4 Baylor, No. 23 Oklahoma (twice), RV West Virginia, Kansas State, Texas Southern
- Noticeable Losses: Blowout from West Virginia, Oklahoma (Big 12 Tournament), @ Iowa State
- Highest ranking in AP, No. 16, Finished fourth in the Big 12 rankings was predicted to finish eighth in the beginning of the season.
- RPI: No. 31 in the country
Based on the resume everything looks pretty good, however the bad part will probably be the blowout losses at the end of the season. Either way, the Cowgirls should have a better seed than what they had last year. Last season, Oklahoma State was the ten-seed, but as of now, ESPN Charlie Creme's bracketology predicted the Cowgirls to be a seven-seed, playing the first game against Purdue at Oregon State University.
