Travis Ford 'not considered a top candidate' for UNLV job, per report

Ford won't be headed to Sin City.

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Oklahoma State has not made a decision on Travis Ford's future and the men's basketball program, yet.

Ford's name has been brought up for openings at other schools, but UNLV isn't one of them, reports Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The Running Rebels fired Dave Rice in January after a loss to Wyoming.

Ford has served as the Cowboys coach since April 2008 with five NCAA Tournament appearances. He led OSU to a 155-111 overall record in his eight seasons at the helm.

The 46-year-old coach's likely final season in Stillwater ended eight days ago with the program's first-ever first round exit in the Big 12 Tournament. It was the seventh consecutive loss for the Cowboys and its first ever loss in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament. The Cowboys finish the season with a 12-20 overall record, just the fourth 20-loss season in program history. OSU hasn't lost more than 14 games since the 1986-87 season, when it went 8-20.
