An injury has forced UFC Lightweight champion Daniel Cormier to withdraw from his title fight against Jon Jones at UFC 197, reports BJPenn.com.
Cormier, a 2001 NCAA national runner-up and All-American at Oklahoma State, was scheduled to fight Jones in the main event on April 23 in Las Vegas.
It's unclear what injury Cormier suffered.
The UFC has yet to confirm whether Jones will be given another opponent at UFC 197, or if the fight will be pusehd back to a later date. If so, UFC 200 looks to be a great fit with the event missing a co-main event. Connor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz II is slated to be the main event.
Last year, Jones withdrew from a fight against Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 after being involved in a hit-and-run accident. With Jones suspended by the UFC, Johnson fought Cormier, who submitted him via a rear-naked choke in the third round.
