OSU Cowboys and Cowgirls remain in top 15 on the court

Baseball isn't living up to expectations, so why not throw yourself into tennis?

Despite losing two straight Big 12 matches to start off the conference season, the Oklahoma State men's tennis team remained in the top 15 for the ninth straight week.

The Cowboys opened up confrence with a brutal schedule agaisnt two top 25 teams on the road. The Pokes lost a winnable, yet tough, matchup with No. 18 Texas and then dropped a 4-0 desision to the No. 2 team in nation in TCU. Yet, the schedule doesn't get any easier for OSU, as the Cowboys play their home confrence opener agaisnt No. 10 Texas Tech on Friday. College MatchDay, the equivalent to College GameDay, will be in Stillwater on Sunday when Oklahoma State meets up with No. 37 Baylor. The match will be televised on Fox Sports 2 at 3:30.

Oklahoma State is led by the No. 59 singles player in America, Englishman Julian Cash. Cash is complimented by India native Arjun Kadhe who is currently ranked 119th in the nation. Together, the duo is ranked fifth in the country by the ITA. The Cowboys No. 3 player, Jurence Mendoza, is the only other Cowboys nationally ranked in singles at the 125 spot respectively. However, the duo of Lucas Gerch and Temur Ismailov is currently ranked 65th.

Fresh off a Bedlam win in Norman, the Oklahoma State Cowgirls tennis team remained in the top 15 for the ninth straight week as well. After a 4-1 beatdown of Oklahoma, the Cowgirls clalimed sole possession of first place in the Big 12. OSU is the only undefeated team left in the conference. The Big 12 isn't as deep on the women's side as it is on the men's, but it's clear the Cowgirls are making the most of their opportunity.

At No. 1 singles, Montenegro native Vladica Babic garnered the No. 44 spot in the nation. Teammate Katarina Adamovic isn't too far behind at No. 47. Viktoriya Lushkova is the final Cowgirl nationally ranked at 65 respectively. In doubles action, the duo of Kelsey Laurente and Maria Alvarez came in at No. 36. Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari are steadily climbing at No. 50, while Adamovic and Babic claim the No. 54 spot. With all three doubles entries nationally ranked, the Cowgirls are going to be a tough out agaisnt any team they face.

The Cowgirls are home this week as they have a pair of Big 12 foes coming to Stillwater in No. 14 Texas Tech and No. 33 TCU. The TCU match will be the site of College MatchDay on Sunday and can be found on Fox Sports 2.
