Less than two minutes into Mason Cox's debut for Collingwood on Anzac Day on Monday against Essendon, Cox became the first born-and-raised American to score a goal in an Australian Football League game.

Cox, a Oklahoma State basketball walk-on in 2011-14, made his debut in front of more than 85,000 fans at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The 25-year-old used his 6-foot-11 frame to pull down a mark then kicked in the score from 27 yards out. It was the first score en route to the Magpies' 69-point win.

"It's only 80,000 people here and you've only played the game for two years, but then it's kind of like, ‘Yeah, cool; I'll just try this out,'" Cox said afterward, according to the Herald Sun. "Luckily it went through and it was just unreal experience. To have the boys get around me after that is a special moment I'll never forget."

Cox scored one goal and one behind with 10 possessions. He also had three tackles and 11 hit outs.
